about

Fiddle Henge is a robotically controlled array of four violins mounted on a 24" bass drum that is played by a motorized acrylic disk.

Born of repurposed found instruments augmented with 3D printing and robotics, Fiddle Henge investigates themes related to performance practice, virtuosity, timbre, and resonance. As a new musical interface, it can conjure rhythmically dense mechanical textures and microtonal sonorities that flicker between harsh noise and spectrally lush drone across its 16 individually tuned strings.

This record is early documentation of Fiddle Henge that excerpts a live performance at Grey Matter in New Haven, CT in March of 2023
